My friend is going much better and thanks you all very much for your kind thoughts and prayers ((hugs)) you are all the BEST ((mwah!!))
Other news: I'm very very pleased to report that Team LBTEPA seems to be getting on much better since the Family Meeting.
The 65km freeway ride is this Sunday, and if this weather keeps up I should drown or freeze to death before I fall off from exhaustion. As is my wont, I have resorted to the 'throw money at it' solution and invested in arm-warmers and some winter gloves.
I have now lost 4.5 whole kgs this year - what a speedster, eh? - and can write a thrilling new 'Xkg-1' number on the fridge and the stove splashback, woot! This is the lightest I've been in seven years.
Noddie's latest disgusting lurgi has attacked and is incommoding me somewhat, but echinacea and ibuprofen are keeping it at bay and me on the road and in the pool. Never surrender!
My new windcheater arrived startlingly quickly, no doubt because of the astonishing postage charges. I am utterly in love with it - so soft! so red! such a cool design! - and want to wear it All The Time.
Our new lounge suite will be here in about an hour. It's a La-Z-Boy with those footrest thingos so J thinks he's died and gone to heaven. He's actually sweeping the living room right now, so maybe I've died and gone to heaven!
More anon, rocker-recliners!

I miss my throne. Damn triathloning takes all my spending money ;-)
Congratulations on the 4.5 Kg - that is a great accomplishment! And thank as always for the encouragement!
Hi,
I strongly advise your friend to get in contact with Ian Hunter - http://www.braininjury.com.au/ Ian is based in St Kilda, Melbourne, and is very good (but expensive).
Ian develops programmes for children with brain injuries, and the earlier these can be started the better. It is hard work, and will involve a lot of helpers, but is SOOO important. Some of the exercises may seem cruel too, but they make a difference!
A brain injury does not have a poor outcome, even though there is no magic pill to take to make it better.
Once your friend deals with the 'grief' involved with realising her child is 'different', she'll find there is immense satisfaction in raising her child. There are support groups of wonderful parents, with lots of practical advice.
It is very rewarding seeing a child with more difficulties than normal, develop and learn new skills, which others take forgranted.
Don't get me wrong, it is hard, she will learn to be more assertive and knowledgable. She will have to fight at times against the health system, stereotypes and sometimes other family members opinions.
Good luck to her, and good on you for being supportive.
Cheers,
Julie
Looking forward to seeing the new red jumper, plus the arm warmers and leg warmers tomorrow! Just realised that all my cycling gear is at work......dammit!
Good to hear things are going better for your friend. What a horrible thing to have happen to her.
Best of luck for tomorrow, should be a fun ride.
Oh so many things to say to you... it's hard to find words when someone has to go through what your friend is right now. That is one tough situation to be in.
Congrats on the weight loss - mine is going TERRIBLY but oh well. It's not the end of the world now is it...
You can do the half ironman, and yes it is scary. It definitely isn't as scary to me anymore after doing Ironman, but it sure used to be!!! The first time at any distance is - my first triathlon was half the sprint distance and it had me packing myself!!!!! My first sprint tri and I thought I would die running 5kms. You just need to look at how far you've come and you will see it is just the next step in achieving your goals.
GO FOR IT
Dear LB,
I was praying for your friend and her little one. and will continue to do so! I'm sure you are a comfort to her--letting her get out the anger and the betrayal and move to solutions.
CONGRATS on the weight loss!!!
WHAT is a windcheater??? I must have one. Is it like my new patented aero butt binder to stop things from flapping in the wind? ;-))
Good job on the weight loss.
Sorry to read about your friend's baby having brain damage. I hope they both get the help they need.
